Compassion Weekend May 19-20

We are excited to highlight on May 19-20 at all of our campuses, one of our strategic partnerships with Compassion International to sponsor children from all over the world. Over the past couple of years we have seen The Summit Church sponsor hundreds of new kids each year through Compassion International. We are praying that God would use the Summit Church to sponsor an additional 750 kids over this weekend to increase our total Kingdom impact to over 2,000 sponsored kids!

In a world where more than a billion people live on less than U.S. $2 per day, child sponsorship is the most strategic way to end child poverty, particularly when it is integrated into a holistic approach to child development.

Your $38 monthly support will not only transform your sponsor child’s life but will also bring you closer to the heart of God as you get to know your sponsor child through photo’s, personal stories, letters and a child sponsorship packet. Sponsoring will change both the one being sponsored and the one sponsoring-so don’t ignore this amazing opportunity to invite your entire family, small group and friends to be a part of this life changing relationship.

To help prepare for this weekend, please pray for these vulnerable children who are living in poverty.  Ask God how he might want to use you to accomplish his purposes and thank God for what he has done and is already doing.

  • Pray that God would be a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in distress and a shelter and shade from the pressures of their circumstances. (Isaiah 25:4)
  • Pray that God would give us eyes to see that He has chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised to those who love him and that we would be encouraged by the faith and persevering witness of our brothers and sisters living in extreme poverty areas. (James 2:5)
  • Pray that our partnership with Compassion would bear much fruit and people would see our good deeds and glorify God. (John 15:8; 1 Peter 2:12)

Not every family is called to adopt, but we are all called to care for the orphan. Adoption is taking orphans without a family and providing them with a family. Some kids have families, but just not the means to care for them. Sponsoring a child in poverty can help provide a child with education which is freedom for the child because it can break the cycle of poverty. It’s a proactive step to prevent orphans by meeting their basic needs and keeping families together.
