Compassion Weekend March 17-20

The Compassion Experience

The Compassion Experience is coming back to The Summit Church Friday, March 17 through Monday March 20!  This interactive tour will allow us to experience the reality of poverty in the daily life in the developing world which affect millions of children around the world and then give us the opportunity to be a part of changing the life of a child living in poverty through sponsorship.

This free tour (don’t forget to register) will be onsite at both the Brier Creek Campus and Blue Ridge Campus. You can also sign up to volunteer at the Brier Creek Campus or the Blue Ridge Campus.

Child Sponsorship

In addition to the Compassion Experience we will be dedicating part of the weekend services on March 18 and 19  to provide you with more information and the opportunity to sponsor a child through Compassion International. Last year we saw over 450+ new sponsors bringing our total active sponsorships as a church to 850+. This year we are praying for 750 new sponsors to increase our overall active sponsorship to over 1500!

We believe child sponsorship through Compassion International  is one of the most strategic ways to end child poverty, particularly when it is integrated into a holistic approach to child development which is rooted in the gospel and implemented by the local church.

Ways to Pray

As we wait for this weekend, please continue to pray for these children who are living in poverty.  Ask God how he might want to use you to accomplish his purposes and thank God for what he has done and is already doing.

  • Pray that God would be a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in distress and a shelter and shade from the pressures of their circumstances. (Isaiah 25:4)

  • Pray that God would give us eyes to see that He has chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised to those who love him and that we would be encouraged by the faith and persevering witness of our brothers and sisters living in extreme poverty areas. (James 2:5)

  • Pray that our partnership with Compassion would bear much fruit and people would see our good deeds and glorify God. (John 15:8; 1 Peter 2:12)
